Tea-ching I and II

These 2 pieces were made in collaboration with american woodturner and artist Kailee Bosch from Colorado. It is made out of laminated books (white parts) and cherry for the metal imitation parts. On these two, the gluing of the books and of the wood were made by Kailee, two cylinders half wood and half books, and a piece with books only. When I unpacked the pieces, I started by cutting into the books to turn and hollow two miniature teapots that will go on the top of the drops. Then I turned, cut and carve one of the two cylinders of wood and books to create the drop shape. I protected the books with masking tape and carved the wooden part using a woodburner to give it a steampunk pattern. I used Indian ink and gilding wax to give it this metallic effect. The second drop was made the same way, the book being turned 90° to the right.
