This sculpture made out of beech representing a volcano has been turned and carved with gouges and pyrography. It was then died using Indian ink and acrylics using dry brushing. This technique involves using a brush with very little paint on, highlighting the hight spots of the piece. It always starts with black and gradually goes up the the lightest color. The coats are very thin, for example, this piece has about 35 coats on.
