This piece from the Rift series has been used for an interactive demonstration about the rifts with the United States. Turned, hollowed and carved the piece prior to the demonstration to be able to show my audience how to sand it, burn it, brush it and wax it. I also turned and carved the insert with a woodburner, dyed it with Indian ink and painted it with acrylics before the demo to be able to show them how to glue it properly to make the illusion real.
