This sculpture represent a piece of cloth that has been torn by a metal thorn. The thorn is mad out of sandblasted ash, dyied using Indian ink and gilding wax. The cloth is made out of beech, turned and hollowed on the lathe, carved with powertools and gouges, and burned with a blowtorch. Then it was sanded and burned again before being dyied with Indian ink. This process make the piece of wood look like a black cloth, using the grain of the wood as the fibers of the cloth. The edges of the piece have been brushed and gently burned. The base is a piece of plywood, painted in black with spray paint.
