Nove sed non nova is a piece that I submitted for the POP (Professional Outreach Program) exhibition in Portland, Oregon for the AAW symposium. The theme was « Out of the Woods – Traditional Form Revisited », and with this piece I wanted to revisit the japanese teapot.
The teapot is made out of ash, sandblasted, dyed with indian ink and gilding wax. The handle is made with a wire and a black string and also dyed with indian ink and gilding wax. The stand is turned in a single piece of boxwood, and the trembleur with the 3 drops is also made in boxwood. The bes is a piece of ash that I sandblasted and dyed with the same technique as the teapot.
